Private investigators usually operate fully within the legal requirements of this great nation, but there is a pretty good chance that they can sometimes operate in legal grey areas as well every so often. That’s why there are so many regulations that have been put in place to limit the otherwise unchecked power that they might have been able to take advantage of. Some of these restrictions involve the kinds of clothes that PIs can wear, as well as various items that they are prevented from keeping on their person.

The truth of the situation is that a New Orleans private investigator can often work in the exact same way as a police officer namely by conducting investigations, but they are not in any way going to be involved in official police work. This is because of the fact that they are hired for private clients, and suffice it to say that if there was no way to distinguish between them and regular cops they might be able to do things that they are not entirely supposed to which is why they are not allowed to have badges.

Having a badge can make you seem like a cop, and the fact of the matter is that most people would not think to take a closer look at any badge that they might happen to be shown. If you are hiring a PI that shows you a badge, chances are that they are no legitimate to any extent whatsoever. Any PI that is legitimate and knows the bounds of their profession will not even try to carry a badge because this is an ethical violation as well as a legal one.
